There is a good reason why they call these Magic Bars! They’re magically delicious chocolate and coconut goodness! So easy yet so yummy!

Since chocolate chips are either hard to find or expensive here in Madrid, we simply cut up chocolate bars.

Pulse your graham crackers (No graham crackers in Madrid so we use cookies.) If you don’t have a food processor, simply roll over them in a ziplock bag with a rolling pin or glass cup or bottle.

Pour yummy condensed milk over your patted down cookies and butter, topped with chocolate and coconut.  (By the way, those are my husband’s hands, not mine.)

My husband likes to sprinkle the top with a little bit more chocolate and coconut. Then in the oven you go!!  And of course, you can make variations like add nuts or M&Ms or peanut butter, etc.

Here’s the recipe in its entirety:

Magic Bars / Las Barritas Mágicas

Ingredients:

  • 2  cups ground graham crackers/ 1 paquete de galletas Maria o tostadas
  • 1/2 cup of butter / 125 g de mantequilla
  • 2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips / 150 g de chocolate fondant, en trozos pequeños
  • 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk / 370 g de leche condensada
  • 3/4 cup of shredded coconut /  60 g de coco ralliado
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Precalienta el horno a 175 grados C.
  2. Grind or pulse graham crackers. Pulveriza las galletas.
  3. Mix butter with graham crackers and pat down in 8×8 pan. Mezcla la mantequilla con las galletas.
  4. Add chocolate and coconut on top. Añade el chocolate y el coco.
  5. Pour sweetened condensed milk over top. Vierte la leche en la parte superior.
  6. (Sprinkle some more chocolate and coconut, if desired.) (Añade mas chocolate y coco si quieres.)
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, till the edges and top are slightly browned. Pon en el horno aproximadamente 15-20 minutos, hasta que los bordes estén un poco dorados.

These are really rich so you can cut them into tiny pieces! Enjoy! Estas son muy dulces, entonces, puedes cortar en trozos pequeños. Buen provecho!
